Fredia “The Cheetah” Gibbs is an American former professional martial artist. She is known for her lightning quick feet and ferocious overhand right. In her career, she has won three world championships in Tae Kwon Do. Moreover, she has also become the first Black woman to hold a World Kickboxing Association (WKA) world title. The net worth of the American athlete is estimated to be between $1 million and $10 million.
Gibbs was born in Chester, Pennsylvania. Her uncle taught her martial arts at Quiet Storm Karate Club. After her initial training, she began competing in track and basketball. During her high school career, she earned All-County, All-State, and All-American honors. Afterwards, she transferred to Cabrini College before her sophomore season. While in college, she was named the Kodak All-American.
Aside from her career as a martial artist, Gibbs has also made her mark in acting. She has appeared in Black Achievers, Los Angeles Sentinel, and Inside Karate. She is also a part of the film Knockout. As an actress, she portrayed Tanya Tessaro in the movie.
Born in 1963, Fredia “The Cheetah” began kicking at the age of 11, and she was able to win eight straight fights. She was able to win three world titles in Tae Kwon Do, and she holds a black belt.
When she was still a kid, Gibbs was introduced to Muay Thai kickboxing. She studied the art of the sport in Bangkok and North Hollywood, California. It was there that she trained under the guidance of David Krapes, Rubin Urquidez, and Saekson Janjira.
Gibbs has worked as a martial artist and as an actress, and her professional Boxing career has helped her to make an impact in the media. She has been a sports model for the Sebastian International Sports Department. However, she has also starred as herself in the 1996 episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air titled “Boxing Helena.”
Gibbs has been inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame in 2022. She is one of ten Division III players to earn the honor.
When she was just a young child, Gibbs was nicknamed “The Cheetah” when she was on the track or court. Eventually, she became a basketball player and received dual scholarships to Temple University. She was All-American during her senior year. Even though her basketball season ended prematurely, her hard work helped her to achieve All-American status in her other athletic endeavors.
Fredia “The Cheetah” is currently living in Hollywood, California. She is a former martial artist and now works as a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) coach. She hopes to move on to MMA fighting, but in the meantime she continues to train in Jiu-jitsu.
Despite her busy schedule, she maintains an active social life, and she is an avid supporter of many charitable causes. Besides her work as an athlete, she has been featured in a number of magazines and newspapers, including the Delco Times. Moreover, she has two children.
