Aside from his numerous award-winning works, Bret Iwan is also a jack of all trades. He is an artist, illustrator and actor and a graduate of the Ringling College of Art and Design. As a matter of fact, he is known for voicing the coveted Mickey Mouse. But how exactly did the actor do this?
First off, there’s no way to know for sure. However, he did make a splash on the voice acting scene. For instance, he has a signature line for Mickey Mouse in Disney Infinity, a series of video games that allow you to build your own version of the cartoon character. The character’s voice was recorded in Florida’s Disney Animal Kingdom theme park in 2009. This isn’t the only time he’s lent his vocal talents to the mouse. He also voiced Mickey Mouse in the Adventures’ Celebration Gathering and a few episodes of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. And, he’s done a fair amount of commercial work as well.
Second, he has a bevy of social media accounts. He uses his official Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts to keep his fans informed of upcoming tour dates and offers occasional updates about his work. Likewise, his YouTube account boasts of an impressive number of videos in his video library.
Third, he’s been on the voice acting scene since 2009. For starters, he’s voiced Mickey Mouse in several episodes of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and in the Mickey’s 90th Spectacular. Moreover, he’s even lent his voice to the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover attraction at Magic Kingdom. On top of that, he’s done some voice-acting magic with the likes of Alexis Denisov and Takanori Hoshino, who aren’t afraid to let their voices do the talking.
Fourth, he’s been able to show off a multi-million dollar net worth. According to the latest figures, he’s made a few million dollars, but that’s by no means the end of the road. Considering his many accomplishments, he’s clearly on the right track. His most important accomplishment, however, is the fact that he’s still alive. So, if you’re looking to see this diminutive wunderkind in action, consider attending MomoCon 2020 in May.
Finally, the big winner of the aforementioned flurry of activity is the one-of-a-kind gizmo he dubbed the “Bret-I-Won.” The miniature tinny he produces is designed to hold a ream of paper and it is actually used for a lot of purposes, notably the “Melodies of the Magic Kingdom” audiobook that is available for download. The aforementioned gizmo supposedly comes with a price tag of $500, but it’s more than worth the money. Lastly, he’s a wacky and fun guy, which has endeared him to the hearts of his many fans. After all, it was his wacky and fun personality that got him his job in the first place.
With this said, Bret Iwan is a slam dunk for the title of “Mickey Mouse’s Official Voice” and he’s a swell guy. And, he has an eye-catching portfolio that will keep him busy for the foreseeable future.
